How the Prime Account works

The Prime Account is where a Master Account becomes a career. There are two ways in: you can be invited, or you can unlock it yourself. From there, FundingPips works directly with the trader. Every Prime Account includes:

How the Prime Account is reached

FundingPips sends an invite directly, based on trading performance. Or unlock it: the profit after the 3rd reward must reach at least 2% of the Master Account size, and up to 10% of it can be unlocked. The amount after the reward split is multiplied by 12.5 to set the Prime Account Size.

When the Prime Account opens, the Master Account closes once all open trades have closed.

Total profit (after the 3rd reward) ×. The split % × 12.5 = Prime Account Size

What happens after unlocking

Unlocking creates a Prime Account. Before trading opens, complete KYC and sign the Prime Account Agreement. Both steps are done from the Rewards page. After that, onboarding takes up to 7 working days, then the Prime Account number appears and the account is ready to trade.

The Prime Account needs its own KYC and agreement, separate from the Master Account.
2%
Soft Daily Loss Limit
8%
Max Loss Limit
Soft Daily Loss Limit 2% based on the higher of the balance or equity at the start of the day. A soft breach pauses trading for the day. The account stays open and resumes the next trading day
Max Loss Limit 8% below the starting balance, trailing the highest end-of-day balance. Locks once a day closes 3% above the Prime Account Size. A breach closes the account
2% Soft Daily Loss Limit

The 2% Soft Daily Loss Limit uses the higher of the balance or equity at the start of the day. If realized or unrealized losses hit this level, trading is paused for the rest of the day. Open positions stay as they are. The account resumes the next trading day.

A soft breach will not close the account. The daily limit resets at 00:00 Platform Time (UTC+3).

Example Day 1 on a $100K Prime Account

Starting balance: $100K / Starting equity: $100K

Based on $100K (both are equal at the start)

2% of $100K = $2K. Touching $98K pauses trading for the day.

Example Day 2, after losses

Starting balance: $99K / Starting equity: $98K

Based on $99K (balance is higher)

2% of $99K = $1,980. Touching $97,020 pauses trading for the day.

8% Max Loss Limit

Every Prime Account has a trailing 8% Max Loss Limit, regardless of which model the reward came from. The loss limit starts 8% below the starting balance and moves up with your highest end-of-day balance. Once your account closes 3% or more above the starting Prime Account size, the loss limit locks and no longer trails. The account closes if equity reaches the locked limit. The limit resets only after a scale-up.

Example On a $100K Prime Account

Starting balance: $100K

The floor starts at $92K (8% below) and trails the highest end-of-day balance

A day closing 3% above, at $103K, locks the floor at $95K

Equity touching $95K closes the account.

How scaling works

Every scale-up adds +10% to the account size, whatever level it happens at. What changes level to level is how much profit is needed and whether a day requirement applies. The first four scale-ups need +5% total profit each, on the starting size at that level. From the 5th scale-up onward the target is +10% profit. The first three scale-ups have no day requirement. The 4th needs 4 profitable days at that level, and the 5th onward needs 10 profitable days, not in a row. Request the scale-up on the dashboard once both requirements are met.

Example One level up, starting at $100K

A $100K Level 1 Prime Account reaches $5K total profit (5%), with no day requirement, requests the scale-up, and grows to $110K. The next target is $5,500 (5% of $110K), also with no day requirement.

What changes at each level
The Prime Account number stays the same through every level, and the Max Loss Limit recalculates from the new size, its only reset. Rewards stay daily on the 80% split at every level.

At Scale-up Level 10 or $2M the account reaches Certified FundingPips Trader: featured on the Tradin Investor Marketplace with an audited track record, and earns a 20% profit share on investor capital.

Max Allocation
$2M
Maximum per Prime Account

How allocation works

Every trader has one Total Allocation: up to $400K across all active Prime Accounts at the same time. Each Prime Account counts at its Prime Account Size, the size it opened at. Scale-ups grow the account but never change what it counts. The ceilings never move: a breach never reduces the $400K, and the share from a closed account goes back into the pool for the next unlock.

Max Allocation Up to $400K, shared across all active accounts.
What each one counts Each counts at its Prime Account Size. Scale-ups do not change what it counts.
Merged accounts The merged size counts toward the $400K.

Merging Prime Accounts

A Prime Account can be unlocked from more than one Master Account, so several can be held within the allocation: a separate Prime Account per strategy or stage. Or combine them: any Prime Accounts can merge into one, no matter which Master Accounts they were unlocked from, because every Prime Account carries the same trailing 8% Max Loss Limit. Request a merge from the dashboard.

Merged size, same maximum
A merged Prime Account has the same $2M overall maximum as everything else.

80% Reward Split

How do daily rewards work?

Daily rewards have an 80% split. Request a reward on any day the profit reaches the 1% minimum of the Prime Account Size. The split counts toward that 1%. A reward never waits for a scale-up. Request as many times in a day as the profit reaches the minimum again. Trading continues the whole time.

Each request comes straight off the balance, so trading never pauses. A reward never resets or lowers the Max Loss Limit. Exchange rates and fees apply to transfers. The reward methods themselves live in Your Rewards, Your Way.

Example One trading day on a $100K Prime Account: request whenever profit meets the 1% minimum

The daily reward split is 80%. A reward can be requested whenever the closed profit meets the 1% minimum, any number of times a day, and trading continues between requests.

All four requests happen in the same trading day. Each one is 80% of the amount requested, every request comes straight off the balance, trading never pauses, and the day that starts at $100K ends at $102K.

How does the end-of-day 20% split work?

The 20% split is applied once at the end of each trading day for all profits that have not been requested. Only applied once, either during reward request or at the end of trading day.

Example A day with a mid-day reward request

You earn $5,000 in profit and request it as a reward during the day, so you receive $4,000 (80%). Later that day, you earn another $2,000 but do not request a reward, at the end of the day, $400 (20%) is deducted automatically, and the remaining $1,600 (80%) stays in your Prime Account balance.

Rewards are separate from scale-ups
Reaching the 10% scale-up target is not required to request a reward. The 10% target is for scale-ups, not rewards. As long as a request meets the 1% minimum of the Prime Account Size, it can be taken, any number of times a day.

Prime Monthly Volume Reward

In addition to daily rewards, every Prime trader earns a monthly volume reward based on total traded volume, added up across every Prime Account the trader holds, up to $20K; refer to the table below for the full milestone breakdown. The reward for the month is the highest volume milestone reached in the calendar month. Milestones are not added together.

How it works
  • The tracker on the dashboard Rewards page shows the volume so far this month and the milestone reached.
  • Only the volume from an active account will be counted at the end of the month.
  • Prime Monthly Volume Reward restarts from zero at the beginning of each calendar month.

Commission

Example One commission across every model: $10 per lot, except Crypto

Prime commission is a flat $10 per lot on every instrument except Crypto, and it is the same no matter which model the Prime Account opened from. Crypto uses a formula instead: lot size × price × 0.04%.

Standard Leverage Plan

The Prime Account uses the Standard Leverage Plan, a tiered system: smaller positions get higher leverage (up to 1:2000), stepping down as the position on an instrument grows. Margin is cumulative, so each tier applies only to the volume inside its range, and the lower tiers keep their benefit no matter how big the trade gets. It is measured per instrument, across all the positions on that instrument, and applies to every Prime Account, no matter the original model.

Cumulative example. A trader holding 0.8 lots on FX Majors who opens another 0.5-lot order has the first 0.2 lots filled at 1:2000 (completing tier 1) and the next 0.3 lots filled at 1:1000.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the allocation when my Master Account closes?

It goes back into the $400K pool once the Master Account closes with no open trades. The new Prime Account then counts against the pool at the unlock amount multiplied by 12.5; see Allocation.

Does the floor move up during the day?

No, and that protects the room to trade: the floor moves only on end-of-day closes, so a high during the day never raises it. Only a day that closes at a new high moves the floor; see the Max Loss Limit table under Trading Objectives.

If equity touches the floor but recovers before the close, is the account safe?

No. The breach is on touch: equity at the floor closes the account at that moment, even if it would have recovered. The same rule also works the other way: dips above the floor cost nothing, and the floor itself never rises during the day; see the Max Loss Limit under Trading Objectives.

Do I have to request a reward every day?

No. Request a reward whenever you want: any day, any number of times the 1% minimum is met. Profit left unrequested gets the 20% split once at the end of the trading day, and the rest stays on the balance; see Rewards.

What happens to my Master Account when I unlock Prime?

It closes once it has no open trades, and its allocation frees back into the $400K pool. The new Prime Account then takes its place at the unlock amount multiplied by 12.5; see Allocation.

How do I get a Prime Account?

Any time after the 3rd reward request, Prime can be unlocked once the profit reaches at least 2% of the Master Account size; up to 10% of that size counts toward the Prime, after the reward cycle split and 12.5 multiplier. Or FundingPips extends an invite; see Getting Started.

How big will my Prime Account be?

Take the profit unlocked with, apply the reward-cycle split, then multiply by 12.5. The multiplier is the same for every model, so only the unlock amount changes the size. The calculator under Getting Started works it out.

Can I request the unlock amount back later?

No. The unlock amount is the price to open the Prime Account, not a requestable balance. Only the profit earned trading the Prime Account is requestable, at the 80% split; see Rewards.

Does my commission change on a Prime Account?

Prime commission is a flat $10 per lot on every instrument except Crypto, the same whichever model the Prime Account opened from. Crypto uses lot size × price × 0.04%; see Commission.

Can I open a Prime Account from the US or Canada?

No. The Prime Account is MT5 only, and MT5 is restricted in the United States and Canada, so a Prime Account cannot be opened there under the current plan; see Platform.

What happens to the Max Loss Limit after a reward?

Nothing: a reward never resets or lowers the floor. Only a scale-up recalculates it, from the new size; see the Max Loss Limit section under Trading Objectives.

What does a scale-up need?

Two things are required on the current level: a +10% cumulative profit based on the level's starting size and 10 profitable days. Then, submit a request through the dashboard. See the Scaling Plan for more details.

Can I run more than one Prime Account?

Yes. A Prime Account can be unlocked from more than one Master Account, so several can be held at once as long as they fit the $400K allocation, one per strategy or stage. Because the trailing 8% Max Loss Limit is identical on every one, any of them can merge into a single account afterward; see Allocation.

What does a breach cost me?

The breached Prime Account closes; the other accounts and the allocation are unchanged, and a new one can be unlocked from another Master Account; see Allocation.
