Trade Copier
Copy Trader allows the Lead account’s positions to be copied to the Follower account in real time.
- Trade accross multiple accounts: Trades executed on the Lead account are automatically copied to the Follower account.
- Sizing scales automatically: Lot sizing adjusts each copied trade based on the Follower’s own balance or equity, allowing accounts of different sizes to follow the Lead account.
- Not limited to one broker: A follower can be an external MT5 account from another broker or prop firm, not just a FundingPips account.
Log in to the FundingPips account. On the left side of the Account Dashboard, the broadcast-style icon shown below is used to access the Trade Copier.
A portfolio links a Lead account to its Follower account(s). Set one up from the Copy Trader section of the dashboard:
When a FundingPips account is connected to an external account, the copier will not execute a trade on the Follower if the symbol name does not match the Lead account’s symbol. This is especially important when the Lead and Follower use different brokers, as the same instrument may have different symbol names.
For example, a client trading NASDAQ sees it listed as NDX100 on the FundingPips platform, but as US100.CASH on another broker. For the copier to mirror that NASDAQ trade correctly, the mapping must pair these two symbols together.
The Follower's symbol is always dynamic and follows that broker's own symbol list, so the trader just needs to scroll through the Follower's symbol field to find the matching symbol.
Lot Sizing determines how the size of each copied trade on the Follower relates to the trade size executed on the Lead. It is set for each Follower as part of the Follower’s mapping. Three modes are available:
Frequently Asked Questions
Which trading platform does Copy Trader support?
MT5 only. Accounts on cTrader or Match-Trader cannot be added to a Copy Trader portfolio, whether as a Lead, a Follower, or an external account.
Can any account be set as the Lead?
No. Only a FundingPips (FP) account can be added as the Lead. External accounts from another broker or prop firm can only be added as followers.
Can I add an account from another broker or prop firm?
Yes, but only as a Follower. A Follower can be an FP account, or an external MT5 account held at a different broker or prop firm.
How many Leads and Followers can be in one portfolio?
During our Beta launch a maximum of 4 Trading accounts can be connected per user.
How is the copied trade size calculated?
Through Lot Sizing, which is set per Follower. Balance-Proportional and Equity-Proportional scale the copied lot size to the balance or equity difference between the Lead and the Follower; Copy as Is copies the exact lot size executed on the Lead, regardless of account size.
What's the difference between Balance-Proportional and Equity-Proportional?
Balance-Proportional scales the copied lot size to the account balance difference between the Lead and the Follower (e.g. 1.0 lot on a $100K Lead becomes 0.1 lot on a $10K Follower). Equity-Proportional uses the same logic, but scales to equity instead, so the ratio shifts with each account's open floating P/L.
Why isn't a trade being copied to my external Follower account?
Check the symbol mapping first. When a FundingPips account is connected to an external account, the copier won't execute a trade on the Follower if the symbol name doesn't match the Lead's. Brokers or Props often name the same instrument differently, e.g. NASDAQ is NDX100 on FundingPips but US100.CASH on another Broker or Prop. Scroll through the Follower's symbol field to find its correct name and pair it with the Lead's symbol.
