Can I hold trades during the news and over the weekend?
Updated over a week ago

During our evaluation stage, we have no restrictions regarding news trading and holding over the weekend; however, on the Master/funded account, you are allowed to hold a trade during news and over the weekend.

You are allowed to hold trades during news and over the weekend. Profit from trades that are opened or closed 5 minutes prior to and after high impact news events and/or speeches on the affected currency will not be counted on the Master account UNLESS the trade was executed 5 hours prior to the event*. This restriction applies to all forms of trade execution, such as manual, pending, stop loss and take profit orders. During news speeches, the prohibited window will extend 5 minutes prior to the speech until 5 minutes after the speech has been finished.

  • High impact News and Speeches

High impact News event trading will result in the deduction of any profits made from trades executed within the restricted 10-minute window.

Our news calendar marks all high-impact news events in red. However be aware that speeches are not always marked in red. We use Forex Factory as our news calendar source. If any deductions breach the daily loss limit or maximum loss limit, the trader is responsible for the violation.

  • Trading Rule Clarification

Closing Trades Near News Events: If you close a trade within 10 minutes of a news event, profits from that trade will not count.

Exception:
Pre-News Trades: Trades opened at least 5 hours before the news event can be closed during the 10-minute window, and profits will still count.

Example:
Trade Opened 30 Minutes Before News: If you close it during the 10-minute window, profits will be disqualified.

Summary:
Trades Opened 5+ Hours Before News: Profits count if closed during the 10-minute window.

Trades Opened Less Than 5 Hours Before News: Profits will not count if closed during the 10-minute window.

Note :

If you close any partial orders, it will impact the entire order and result in a flag for news trading
